Australia and China Strengthen Quality Assurance of Training

Australia and China have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration on quality assurance for vocational education and training (VET). Speaking in China following his meeting with Chinese Vice Minister for Education, Mr Hao Ping, Senator Birmingham said the Australian Government is building strong partnerships with China in the area of quality training and skills development.     Read More . . .

AFA CEO, Patrizia Torelli, attended the recent briefing by Hon Simon Birmingham, Assistant Minister for Education and Training on the new model for Training Package development that will place industry consultation at the forefront of skills development in Australia. AFA Members may be interested to know that the Assistant Minister for Education and Training, Senator the Hon Simon Birmingham, announced the successful organisations that will form the new Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (the ApprenticeshipNetwork). The Apprenticeship Network will make it easier for employers to recruit, train and retain apprentices and trainees with the ultimate aim of improving Australian Apprenticeships completion rates.    Read More . . .

Victoria's TAFE Sector has Racked up Huge Financial Losses, with One Metropolitan Institute Losing More Than $13 Million

The AFA is concerned to read the financial losses from Victorian TAFE's. The AFA feels there is not enough encouragement for students to attend TAFE and be given the knowledge that there are viable careers in the the trade sector. The AFA is working with TAFE's to ensure that the courses offered for the furniture sector continue to grow to support our industry.
